about

Afrolicious is excited to announce announce they will release their brand new EP entitled ‘World of Possibilities’ on our Afrolicious Music label. This 6 song EP reflects both the high energy dance party that Afrolicious is known for when they play with the full band, do a DJ set or a combination of DJ and live known as an Afrolicious Soundsystem set.

Afrolicious returns to that beat heavy, dance floor inducing, funk driven, Afro heavy groove base while reaching deeper into the Tropical side. Their is heavy Afro-Carribean influence on this EP as well as from Ghana Hi-Life, Calypso from Trinidad, Afro-Colombian and Afro-Cuban grooves, as well. The idea behind this EP is a more beautiful world is possible if we can imagine it, see it, work towards it and rise above the fighting, division, oppression and hate. Afrolicious brings a soulful party in which some folks make life long friends, find spouses, grow their tribe and community at. These parties, shows, and festival performances reflect our love of sharing time w- our supporters off the stage and basking in that sense of community that surrounds music. This EP aims to bring that to life in a recorded production.

Big shout out to the amazing guests artists and musicians in the Afrolicious band who contributed their time, soulful performance and flavor to this release. Return collaborator Red the Black Blond, (is doing her thang on ‘Love Shall Remain’ and ‘World of Possibilities’ with soul and passion. Mayteana Morales (Walk Talk, Pimps of Joytime) provides a sultry, heart felt and deep vocal performance on ‘Where the Sun Foreve Shines’ over a heavily layered and soulful mix of dance and downtempo, plus the trumpet stylings of Marcus Cohen. On ‘Living Our Lives’ a track heavily inspired by 70’s Afro Colombian music which itself was heavily inspired by Afro-Cuban music, Hornmen Will Magid (Balkan Bump) and Aaron Leibowitz (Zhu) give a beautiful performance as the grooves and melodies and beats take you a lush tropical setting of dancing and lovely folks celebrating life.
